Thinking about getting the Herz P1 Smart Scale but I’m not sure about the battery. The listing says up to 180 days per charge, but that sounds like if you barely use it. I’d probably do a full scan every morning, maybe sometimes twice if I forget something. Does anyone know if it actually holds up with daily use? Not expecting magic, just want to know if I’ll be charging it every month or so. I’m not super techy so I don’t need exact numbers, just a rough idea.

Mine drops way faster with daily scans.

I do a scan most mornings and mine lasted about three months before I had to plug it in. Not the 180 days they advertise but honestly still fine by me. I just charge it overnight when it gets low.

I have the same habit of stepping on it every morning and I get closer to six weeks per charge, not months. The handle part seems to be what eats the battery since it has to power the extra sensors for the full body scan. If I skip the handle and just do a regular weigh in, it lasts noticeably longer. So if you’re planning a full scan daily, expect to plug it in more often than the box suggests. It’s not a dealbreaker for me since charging is quick, but the 180 days thing is definitely based on lighter use than what you’re describing.

The 180 days thing is basically best case scenario. I had a similar scale from another brand that claimed 6 months and it really only made it about 8 weeks before I got tired of charging it. With the Herz P1, the handle part is what eats the battery faster since it has to power the extra sensors for the full body scan. If you’re doing that every morning, I’d guess you’re looking at 2 months tops before it needs a charge. Not terrible but also not the number they throw on the box. The plus side is a charge doesn’t take forever, so it’s more of a minor annoyance than a real problem.

The 180 days is definitely a best case thing. I use mine for a full scan maybe four or five times a week and I still get a decent stretch out of it, nowhere near a month though. It’s not something I think about much.

I’d probably just plan on charging it more often than the listing suggests and decide from there. For me the bigger question would be whether the app actually makes the daily scan worth it, because if you’re only stepping on once a morning, a scale that needs a charge every few weeks isn’t really a dealbreaker. I’ve been comparing a few of these body composition scales lately and the battery claims always seem to assume lighter use than most people actually do. The handle thing is what makes me pause more than the battery, since that’s the part you’d be grabbing every single day. I don’t think you’d be charging it weekly, but I also wouldn’t buy it expecting to forget about the charger for half a year. If the app and trend tracking are good, that tradeoff seems fine to me.

I’d just look at the kind of use it’s actually built for. Daily full scans with the handle probably pull more power than a quick weigh-in, so I wouldn’t count on the 180 days as a real number. Charging it every month or two sounds more realistic to me.

Mine barely made it past three weeks with daily scans, so whoever says months must be using it way less. I plug mine in every couple weeks now and stopped expecting anything close to what they advertise.

I’ve had mine for about four months now and I do a full scan most mornings, sometimes skipping weekends when I’m traveling. The battery is still going and I haven’t hit the low warning yet, so I’m expecting to charge it somewhere around the five or six month mark. That’s plenty for me. What surprised me is that the handle scans don’t seem to drain it any faster than a plain weigh in, at least not that I’ve noticed. I just leave it on the bathroom floor and forget about it. My last scale ate batteries every couple months so this feels like a nice upgrade. Curious if anyone has noticed it dropping faster once it gets older though, since batteries usually do that over time.

The 180 days is probably closer to real life than people here are making it out to be. I think the daily use crowd is overestimating how much that handle scan actually drains. Most of the power goes into the Bluetooth sync and the screen, not the scan itself. If you’re doing one full scan in the morning and leaving it alone the rest of the day, that’s maybe two minutes of actual activity. The scale sits idle the other 23 hours. Idle draw on these things is tiny. The people burning through a charge in three weeks are probably leaving the app open, syncing constantly, or getting notifications pushed to the display. Charge it once every couple months and you’ll be fine. The listing isn’t lying, it just assumes you’re not treating it like a fitness tracker strapped to your wrist.

I think a daily full scan is more than what that 180 day number was based on. My guess is you’d be charging it somewhere in the one to two month range, not every single week.

Mine is a little over two months old and I do a full scan most weekdays, sometimes twice on weekends. I’ve charged it once since I got it and it’s still showing plenty of battery, so the monthly charging thing hasn’t been my experience at all. That said, I don’t leave the handle extended overnight or anything, and I usually just do a quick weigh-in if I’m in a rush. The full scan does seem to use more juice than the plain weight reading but not enough that I’ve noticed it dying fast. I’d guess you’d get a couple months before needing to plug it in, not weeks. The app is the part that annoys me more than the battery, but that’s a different topic.

The 180 days is marketing math, not daily scan math. If you’re doing a full body scan every morning, plan on charging it way more often than that. Anyone expecting six months with that routine is going to be disappointed.

Daily scans plus the handle probably lands you around six to eight weeks between charges, give or take. The 180 days is likely for people doing a quick weigh in now and then, not a full scan every morning. If you’re okay plugging it in every month or two, it’s not a big deal.

180 days is nonsense if you’re scanning daily. I’ve had mine since January, do a full scan almost every morning, and I’m charging it roughly every five or six weeks. The handle part clearly eats more juice than a quick step-on. Still a decent scale, just don’t buy it expecting to forget the charger exists.

Daily full scans are a lot to ask from any of these scales. I’ve got a different brand with a handle and I usually plug mine in every couple months, so that 180 day thing is definitely a best case number. You’ll probably land somewhere in that range if you skip a day here and there.

Fair enough, I’ll just grab one and see how it goes. My last scale ate batteries like crazy so even a couple months per charge would be an upgrade. Not expecting the full 180 days but that’s fine.
