I just got the Matsato and I like how sharp it is out of the box, but that finger hole in the blade feels a bit weird to me. Does it actually help with control or is it more of a gimmick? I keep catching my finger in it by accident.

you actually managed to cut yourself with that hole? I don’t know, feels pretty comfortable to me

I don’t really think about it that much honestly. It just kind of sits there when I use it, doesn’t get in my way or help much. I can see why some people might find it annoying though.

I can see how it might feel weird at first, but after a few uses it kind of just becomes part of the grip. Not sure if it’s a game changer or anything, but it doesn’t bother me anymore.

I definitely had the same thought at first, but after a few uses I stopped noticing it. I think it helps a little with grip when you’re doing finer cuts, but it’s not a game changer or anything.

I kind of just see it as a resting spot for my finger, doesn’t bother me at all. I wouldn’t overthink it, you probably just need to get used to where it sits.

I guess I just got used to it after a few days, honestly I barely notice it now.

I’m still on the fence about it honestly. It feels kind of unnecessary to me, but I haven’t used it long enough to really tell if it helps or just gets in the way. Might just be one of those things you either click with or don’t.

I can see why it feels weird at first, I had the same reaction when I started using mine. After a few weeks I stopped noticing it honestly, and I think it does help a bit with stability when you’re doing finer cuts. Not a game changer or anything, but it works fine for me.

I skimmed through this and honestly, the finger hole thing sounds like it’s more trouble than it’s worth. I’d probably just ignore it and use the knife normally.

I think it’s supposed to help with control but I’m not totally sure if it actually does. I mostly just ignore it and hold the knife normally, honestly I forget it’s even there most of the time.

I’ve seen a few people say they just ignore the hole too, which makes me feel better about not getting used to it. I might just start holding it normally and see if it still feels balanced enough for everyday chopping. Good to know I’m not the only one caught off guard by it.

I kind of get what you mean, it does feel weird at first. I thought it was just a gimmick too, but after a few weeks I actually started using it without thinking. Now I kinda miss it on my other knives.

honestly i don’t think it’s a gimmick, but it’s definitely one of those things you either get used to or you don’t. i kinda forgot about it after a while, and now my finger just naturally goes there without me thinking about it. still catches me off guard sometimes if i’m not paying attention though.

I get what you mean, it does feel odd when you first pick it up. I mostly just use the hole to hang it on my knife rack, honestly.

I think it’s mainly for hanging honestly, but I tried using it once to hook my finger and it just felt unnatural. It’s not something I’d rely on for control, but the knife itself works fine for me.

Honestly, I barely notice the finger hole on mine. I think it’s just there for hanging, but I’ve never actually used it for control or anything. The knife itself works great for me, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

I think it’s more of a design thing than a gimmick, but I don’t really use it for control. I just tuck my finger in there when I’m not using it so the knife doesn’t slide off the counter. Not a huge deal either way.

I was wondering the same thing when I first got mine. I don’t think it makes a huge difference for control, but I do find it handy when I’m just holding the knife loosely while reaching for something on the counter. It keeps my finger from sliding onto the blade, which is nice.

I get what you mean, the hole does stand out at first. I found it took me a few days to stop poking my finger in there by habit. For me it ended up being fine once I adjusted my grip, but I don’t think it really adds much control either way.

It’s really not that big a deal once you stop thinking about it. I barely notice the hole after using the knife for a week.

The hole never really bothered me. I can see how it’d be annoying if you’re not used to it, but I just kind of ignore it and grip the handle normally. Maybe it’s there for looks more than anything, but it doesn’t get in my way.
