I got a Qinux Pixgo 4K and want to use it for cycling, but the mounts that came with it are confusing. The curved mount seems for flat surfaces, not sure how to put it on my helmet. Anyone figured out a simple way without buying extra stuff? I’m not very handy with this kind of thing.

Helmet mounts never fit right anyway.

The curved mount is really meant for putting on the side of a car or a flat-ish surface, so it doesn’t grab a helmet well. I ended up just threading the strap through the rear clip and tightening it down, but it still wobbles a bit on bumpy rides. If you’re not handy, that’s about as simple as it gets without buying a proper helmet mount.

I actually skipped the curved one completely and used the flat adhesive pad from an old phone holder I had lying around. Stuck it to the side of my helmet and it’s been solid for two months of commuting. The included mounts felt like more hassle than they were worth.

I ran into the same thing when I first tried mine, the included mounts just don’t sit right on a helmet. I ended up using one of those sticky pads from a cheap phone holder I had, and it’s been solid for months of riding.

Mine actually holds fine on the helmet with the curved mount. I just pressed it down hard on the front and it hasn’t moved in a couple of weeks. Maybe my helmet shape happens to match it.

The mounts are not the problem, the helmet is. Plastic shell on mine is too slick for any of that stuff, so it kept sliding no matter how hard I pressed. I gave up and just clip it to my backpack strap now.

Stick it on the side strap, worked fine for me.

The included mounts are junk for helmets, but that doesn’t mean you need to buy a whole kit. I used an old GoPro sticky base I had in a drawer and it’s been solid for months. The curved one just doesn’t have enough surface area to grip properly.

I’d just skip the curved mount and stick the camera to the side of my helmet with the flat pad, way less fuss. Mine stayed put on a few rides that way. Not sure I’d trust the curved one on a helmet at all.

I actually prefer the clip mount on my backpack strap instead of the helmet. Keeps the camera steady and I barely notice it’s there when I’m riding. Helmet mounts always felt awkward to me anyway.

I just used the flat pad that came in the box and stuck it right on the front of my helmet. Been on there for a few rides now and it hasn’t budged, even on bumpy paths. Not sure how it’ll hold up long term but so far so good.

The curved mount is actually the one I used. It fits the shape of most helmets better than the flat pad because it can flex a bit when you press it down. I put mine on the front left side of my helmet, held it there for about thirty seconds, then let it sit overnight before riding. That was a few months ago and it has not moved since, even on bumpy paths. The flat pad people keep mentioning seems like it would pop off on a curved shell, so I would not bother with that one. You do not need extra stuff, just clean the spot first and press hard for a bit. Mine came with the sticky base already on the mount, so it was ready to go out of the box. Give the curved one a shot before buying anything else.

Mine ended up on the helmet strap with the little clip thing, not the sticky pads at all. Took me two rides to trust it but it hasn’t moved since, and I like that I can just unclip the camera when I stop somewhere. The pads never sat right on my helmet shape anyway.

I’d just leave it off the helmet. Mine lives on the handlebars now and honestly I forget it’s even there half the time. The helmet mounts always looked fiddly to me.

The curved one is really for the side or top of the helmet shell, not the flat front. I stuck mine on the side and it held fine for a couple months. After that the adhesive got a bit loose, so it’s not something I’d trust forever.

I’m still deciding on this camera myself, so I’ve been lurking for mounting ideas. I did notice the curved pad lines up better with the front vents than the flat one, at least on my old helmet. If you’re not handy, I’d start with whatever piece already feels closest and go from there.

I went into it expecting the sticky pads to be the whole story since that’s what every action cam seems to come with, but I ended up not using them at all on the helmet. My first attempt was the flat pad on the front and it lasted about a week before I noticed it starting to lift at one corner. Could’ve been dust or me not pressing it long enough, but either way I didn’t trust it after that.

What actually worked for me was the strap situation. I threaded the rear clip through the helmet straps near the side and it’s been solid for a couple months of regular rides. It doesn’t look as clean as a stuck-on mount and there’s a bit of wobble if I turn my head fast, but the footage is fine for what I’m doing. I’m not racing or anything, just casual rides around town and a few longer weekend ones.

The thing nobody warned me about is that the camera hanging off the strap gets in the way when I put the helmet on or take it off. I’ve knocked it a couple times. So there’s a tradeoff either way.

If the curved pad lines up with your helmet shape I’d probably just try that first since it’s less fuss. But if you’re like me and don’t want to gamble on adhesive, the strap clip is right there in the box and it does the job.

Ended up on the handlebars too, way less hassle.
