I’m looking at the Herz P1 Smart Scale but I upgrade my phone every year or so. If I switch from Android to iPhone, do I lose all my history or does it carry over? I don’t want to start from zero every time. Anyone know how the app handles that?

I switched from a Pixel to an iPhone last year and my history came over fine after logging into the same account. I do like keeping the app login instead of just relying on the phone’s health app though, since that seems to be where the actual data lives.

The account is the thing that matters, not the phone. I swapped devices twice with mine and the old weigh-ins were still sitting there once I logged in. Whether that holds if you jump between Android and iOS I couldn’t tell you, but the app itself didn’t wipe anything on me.

I switched from a Samsung to an iPhone about six months ago and all my weigh-ins were still there. The app account keeps the data, not the phone. Took a minute to pair the scale again but that was it.

The account login is what holds everything, so switching phones shouldn’t wipe anything. I hopped from a cheap Android to an iPhone and my old readings were still sitting there once I signed in. Took a minute for the app to pull them back down though.

I went the other direction, iPhone to Android, and my old data showed up once I logged in. The only annoying part was reconnecting Bluetooth and redoing the WiFi setup on the scale itself.

Switching phones isn’t the problem people make it out to be, but I’d still export the PDF reports once in a while. Apps come and go, and I’ve watched a fitness app nuke years of data after a bad update. Local export is the only thing I actually trust.

I mostly care about not having to redo the setup, so I just log in with the same email every time and move on. Last time I swapped phones I had to re-pair Bluetooth, which took a minute, but the data was there. That’s my main preference, low fuss.

The one thing I’d check is that you use the same login method after switching platforms, like if you signed up with Google on Android and then use Apple on the iPhone it can get messy. My partner hit that with a different app and had to dig around to get her old data linked again. So just make a note of how you first set up the account.

Syncing is overrated, my old data never mattered anyway.

I switched phones mid-year and lost a couple weeks of readings somehow. Same login and everything. Not sure if it was the app or me not syncing before wiping the old one, but it wasn’t the clean handoff people make it sound like.

I’d hold onto the login info rather than assume it just carries over. My history came back fine after swapping phones, but I had to use the exact same sign-in method, and I’d switched from email to Google at some point, which made it messy. Not the scale’s fault really, but worth checking before you wipe the old phone.

I’d just make sure I’m logging into the same account after switching, whether that’s email or one of the sign-in options. I’ve swapped between Android and iPhone with a different scale app and my history was still there. So for me the account matters more than the phone.

Switching platforms isn’t the issue, the account is. Mine pulled everything back after I moved from an old Android to an iPhone, but that was because the readings were already tied to my login, not the phone itself. The app doesn’t care what device you’re on.

I went from a Pixel to an iPhone last spring and my Herz history was all there when I logged in. The app itself looked a little different but the readings were fine. I did export a PDF before switching just in case though, mostly because I keep those for my doctor.

Just export a PDF before you switch. I did that when I moved phones and had a copy of everything without relying on the app to pull it back. Saved me the headache.

Mine synced over fine when I went from an old Samsung to an iPhone, but I only had maybe three months of readings at that point. The app did look different on iOS though, took me a day to find where all the charts went.

Mine didn’t carry over at all when I switched.
